Japanese Fried Rice

Fried rice, one of the most common and comforting of all asian dishes. Fried rice is not only a practical meal, it is also prevalent in all of Asia. In almost every asian country, you will see a wide variety of fried rice made in several different ways. The common ingredient being day old rice. It was a practical way for them to use the leftover rice and add different ingredients to enhance the flavor. Here’s our version of our homestyle fried rice. You can also experiment and add or substitute your favorite ingredients and to make this dish your own!

 

 

Ingredients:

4 Cups day old white rice
1/2 lb. sliced pork or bacon
2 cloves or 2 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 medium onion, chopped
2 tbsp chopped green onions
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hoisin or oyster sauce
1 tbsp cooking oil
3 eggs. 2 for scrambling (1 for frying *optional)
salt and pepper to taste
